What will I learn?
CREATIVE TECHNIQUES
Students will embark on a creative journey where they will learn to see the world through an artistic lens, mastering innovative photography techniques that go beyond the basics. Through hands-on exercises and guided tutorials, they will discover how to manipulate light, shadow, and composition to weave visual narratives. The coursework will inspire them to experiment with different angles, focus depths, and photographic styles, fostering a space where creativity knows no bounds.

FLOWER PHOTOGRAPHY
Students will delve into the delicate art of flower photography, learning to capture the intricate details and vibrant colors of each bloom. They will be taught how to adjust focus and depth of field to make their floral subjects stand out, and employ techniques such as macro photography to reveal the subtle textures and patterns often overlooked by the naked eye.

SLOW SHUTTER PHOTOGRAPHY
At the beach, students will master the art of slow shutter photography, harnessing the power of longer exposures to convey motion and serenity in their seaside captures. They’ll learn how to stabilize their cameras and adjust settings to create ethereal images where waves transform into misty veils and the ocean’s ceaseless movement is rendered into a smooth, painterly canvas.

LANDSCAPE/CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY
In the picturesque setting of Charleston, South Carolina, students will have the opportunity to enhance their landscape and cityscape photography skills amidst the city’s diverse scenery. They’ll learn to frame the lush Lowcountry vistas, historic architecture, and sweeping skylines, capturing the essence of Charleston’s soul. Guidance on utilizing the natural light, shadow play, and architectural lines will enable students to compose shots that tell the rich story of the city’s heritage and natural beauty.
