We’ll stay in the charming town of Wimberley, just outside Austin and an easy drive from San Antonio. Known as the “Gem of the Hill Country,” Wimberley is filled with small-town charm, winding rivers, breathtaking scenery, and a creative spirit that makes it the perfect backdrop for photography and connection.
Expect stunning sunrises, colorful blooms, relaxed exploration, and plenty of opportunities to create images you’ll love—while making memories with an amazing group of women who share your passion for creativity and adventure.

Itinerary
Sunrises at 7:20 AM
Sunsets at 6:10 PM
Day 1:
- Check-in late afternoon
- Capture the stunning sunset in Wimberly (location TBD)
- Dinner outing
Day 2:
- Full day in Fredericksburg, TX to capture the stunning wildflowers at Wildseed farm, Winery for lunch, visit to Lyndon B Johnson historic farm and wrap up the day capturing the Blanco River
Day 3:
- Local day in Wimberly/Driftwood TX Visit and capture the beauty of the blue waters at Blue Hole Cypress Tree Park, Longhorns, and Dinner together at at a famous TX BBQ restaurant. Optional afternoon editing session.
Day 4:
- Last day will be a trip to the San Anotonio Bontanical garden or a large wildflower area depending on the bloom.
Day 5:
- Bid farewell to newfound friends!

What is Included in the price?
Photography instruction, Admission fees to places we will visit. Complimentary canvas from our sponsor Pro Prints.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
Airfare, transportation to the workshop (we will carpool during), travel insurance, meals eaten out, lodging – we have a block of rooms reserved at the Wimberly Inn, you will book your own room.
Wildflower Disclaimer: While we plan our trip around peak bloom seasons, we cannot guarantee which wildflowers will be in bloom during our visit. Bloom times vary each year based on weather and environmental conditions. No matter what, we’ll explore beautiful landscapes and find stunning photography opportunities along the way!
How Do I Get there?
The best airport to fly into for Wimberley, Texas, is Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). It’s about a 45-minute to 1-hour drive (roughly 40 miles) from Wimberley.
If you’re coming from farther away and Austin flights are limited, you could also fly into San Antonio International Airport (SAT), which is about 1 to 1.5 hours away (around 65 miles).
From either airport, you’ll need to rent a car, as there’s no direct public transportation to Wimberley. The drive will take you through scenic Texas Hill Country, making for a beautiful road trip!
There will be a Facebook group made for the retreat where you can try to arrange sharing car rentals with other participants.
Lodging
We’ll be staying at the Wimberley Inn, a charming boutique hotel nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Surrounded by oak trees and just minutes from Wimberley’s shops, restaurants, and scenic trails, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. With cozy, thoughtfully designed rooms and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s an ideal retreat for our stay!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Lori Lankford is a seasoned nature photographer and digital artist celebrated for her unique perspective behind the lens. She is passionate about capturing the beauty of flowers, crafting abstract landscape scenes, and exploring creative close-ups. For the past six years, she has dedicated herself to sharing her expertise through teaching and leading workshops.
Three years ago, Lori joined the Women’s Photography Circle teaching team. There, she shares her passion by teaching online courses such as Lightroom and A Year of Creative Photography. Her goal is to help you see the world in a fresh new way and then capture it with your camera! Lori’s favorite places to travel are Charleston, Big Sur, and the Smokey Mountains, where she grew up. She also lived in Texas for 10 years, so is quite familiar with the area.
