From the moment you’re picked up in Bozeman, you’ll be surrounded by fellow photography enthusiasts and unforgettable views. Over four full days inside the park, you’ll have private snow coach access to some of Yellowstone’s most photogenic winter scenes—roaming bison, playful foxes, and the iconic geothermal wonders that define this landscape. Itinerary
Preworkshop:
Day 1: Welcome to Montana + Scenic Drive to West Yellowstone
Your adventure begins with a midday pickup in Bozeman, followed by a scenic winter drive through the snow-dusted landscapes of Big Sky Country. We’ll arrive in West Yellowstone, our cozy home base for the next four nights. After settling in, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner and orientation, getting to know each other and previewing what lies ahead. It’s the perfect way to kick off our wildlife photography journey.
Day 2–5: Yellowstone Winter Safari
For the next four days, we’ll venture deep into the heart of Yellowstone National Park, exploring a landscape transformed by snow and steam. These days are dedicated to wildlife photography, where we’ll seek out bison, foxes, elk, bald eagles, and—if we’re lucky—wolves.
Each day brings a new route and opportunities to photograph animals in dramatic winter light, as well as iconic geothermal features like steamy geysers and frozen waterfalls. Amy Ames will be there every step of the way, offering tips on composition, tracking wildlife, and making the most of winter’s unique photographic challenges.
Day 6: Farewell + Travel Day
After an unforgettable week in one of the most photogenic places on Earth, we’ll head back to Bozeman. Plan to fly out after 1:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to reflect on your week of epic winter wildlife photography.
WEATHER: This photography workshop in Yellowstone takes place in winter conditions, which may include extreme cold, snow, ice, and strong winds. Be prepared for freezing temperatures and variable weather that can change rapidly.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
AMY AMES
Amy is a wildlife, landscape, and adventure photographer based in Pittsboro, North Carolina—though she’s rarely home for long. Always eager to explore, she’s most often found in remote, mountainous places with a Diet Coke in hand. When not on the road, she’s a mom to two boys and the dedicated dog walker to a particularly high-maintenance chocolate lab.
My photography comes from a love of wild places and a desire to share their beauty with others. Through my images, I hope to encourage people to appreciate and protect the incredible ecosystems that make up our planet. I love inviting others along for the ride—to explore, to connect, and to help make sure these places stick around for future generations. I also lead photography workshops and teach an online wildlife course through Women’s Photography Circle.
