I am thrilled to be heading back to the North Shore next fall! Living here, I may be a bit partial, but Minnesota boasts some of the most stunning fall colors, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
What is the North Shore?
The North Shore is Minnesota’s most picturesque region, located in the northeastern part of the state along the majestic Lake Superior. This area is renowned for its breathtaking fall colors, scenic rivers, enchanting waterfalls, and the awe-inspiring lake itself.
About the Retreat
This 5-day, 4-night women’s photography retreat is perfectly timed to capture the peak of fall colors. We’ll delve into landscape photography, astrophotography, and waterfall photography. Our home base will be a beautiful log cabin situated right on the Baptism River, just minutes away from Tettegouche State Park.

Itinerary
Sunrises at 7:20 AM
Sunsets at 6:45 PM
Milkyway visible 8:20 – 9:45 PM
Day 1:
- Arrival day – check in between 4-4:30 PM to the lodge.
- Sunset at Black Beach
Day 2:
- Sunrise at Split Rock Lighthouse
- Break for showers and breakfast
- Afternoon hike to Oberg Mountain
- Stop for maple syrup and photo ops at Wild Country Maple Syrup
- Photograph winding fall tree lined roads.
- In field ICM session
Day 3:
- Sunrise shoot on shores of Temperance River State Park
- Break for breakfast and showers
- Waterfall, rivers, and fall scenes Temperance River State Park
- PhotoPills Info Session
- Sunset and Milky Way shoot – location TBD
Day 4:
- Sunrise Split Rock
- Break for breakfast and showers
- Cascade River State Park
- Explore Grand Marais
Day 5:
- Say farewell to our new friends!
*This is a sample itinerary, it is subject to changes due to time and weather. We cannot guarantee all these places will be visited.
Capture stunning views
What to Expect
Students can expect to shoot sunrises every day. There is little down time on this specific workshop. We will spend 1 night photographing the stars. We will work with filters, long exposures, ICM, compositions, self-portraits, and more. Editing videos will be made available after the workshop along with image feedback.

Where Will We Go?
We will explore the area between Silver Bay and Grand Marais, Minnesota.
Lodging
Lodging is included in the price. We will be staying at a gorgeous log cabin right on the Baptism River and minutes away from Tettegouche State Park.

What is Included in the price?

What is not included?
Transportation to the retreat (we will carpool during the retreat), airfare, trip insurance, other meals and beverages, and admission to any other places we may visit.
What gear do I need?

What is the nearest major airport?
The nearest major airport is in Minneapolis (MSP). From there it is a 3.5 hour drive to the lodging. There is also a smaller airport in Duluth, from there it is an hour drive.
Instructor
Beth Mancuso
Beth is a Minnesota-based nature photographer. Her work has been featured by National Geographic, Huff Post, ABC News, Midwest Living, Sony, Tamron, Outdoor Photographer and more.
She was the winner of Sony’s female landscape photography contest and placed second in the Great American Landscape contest by Outdoor Photographer. Beth is an official Nat Geo Yourshot photographer and was featured on the Nat Geo Channel on the TV show Assignment Inspiration.
Beth is a permit carrier for National Parks and Forests. She is also CPR & Wilderness First Aid certified.
