INTO GLACIER WE GO
I am heading back to the mountains to teach a 4 day female photography workshop at Glacier National Park. Glacier National Park is known as the “Crown of the Continent”, one visit to the park and you will see how the park earned that name. Glacier National Park is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. While there you will experience mountains, turquoise waters, glaciers, waterfalls, wildflowers, and abundant wildlife. Join me for what is to be truly the adventure of a lifetime!
WHAT – Four Day Photography Retreat (ladies only)
WHEN – August 7-11th, 2025
WHERE – Glacier National Park in Montana
COST – $3595 single occupancy (8 available)
REGISTRATION: Will open to alumni on March 21st, 2024 at 9AM CST. General Registration will open on March 24th, 2024 at 9AM CST.
You will find a registration button on the site on Sunday at 9 am CST.
TOPICS COVERED – Manual mode, exposure, composition, light, self-portraits, long exposure, composites. Editing videos will be made available after the trip, along with image critiques.
GROUP SIZE – 8-9 students, 1 instructor
EXPERIENCE – Students should have a good understanding of the exposure traingle, and should be comfortable shooting in aperture priority or manual mode.
ENDURANCE – *IMPORTANT Students should expect moderate activity. We will be doing at least 2 hikes that range in length from 2-4 miles with elevation gain. When carrying camera gear this can be quite the workout.
GEAR – Recommended gear requirements are a DSLR or mirrorless camera, camera bag, tripod, filters, wide-angle lens with a large aperture, and zoom lens. You can find my recommended gear list here.
TRAVEL – The closest airport is (FCA) Glacier Park International. If you are struggling to find flights at FCA you can also look at Spokane, Missoula, Great Falls, and Bozeman. I haven’t ever done it but I hear the drive from Spokane is lovely.
If you are looking to extend your trip at all, book your lodging ASAP.
ITINERARY – Our adventure will start on the east side of the park. We will meet up at check-in time between 3-4 pm on the 7th at St Mary Motel. Please factor in drive time from the airport when planning your flight. It is a 2+ hour drive from Kalispell. We will spend 2 nights on the east side and finish with 2 nights on the west side at Motel Lake McDonald. The workshop will end after sunrise on the 11th.
WHAT WILL WE SEE? Students can expect to explore places like Avalanche Lake, Virginia Falls, Trail of Cedars, Sun Point, Many Glacier, Wild Goose Island, numerous pull-offs and the famous Going-to-the-Sun-Road. Spots subject to parking availability.
Note: While this is a workshop for women my husband will be along on this trip as a driver and trail guide.

Definitely very highly recommend!
This was my first workshop, and I went into it not knowing what to really expect. I hoped to learn and be challenged. I certainly was. Both Kristen and Beth took time to cater instruction to every person and every level. I went away from each location with new ideas from both of them. Magic. That’s what happens when you take a group of ladies who want to grow as photographers and artists get together! And when you are led by two incredible photographers such as Beth and Kristen it becomes reality. For me, I learn so much more than just camera settings. I have learned to stop and smell the roses, as the saying goes. Beth and Kristen took us to fabulous locations and gave us opportunities to shoot at various times of day as well. With all of the guesswork of when and where to go taken care of, all I had left to do was get creative! I want to be a better photographer and I couldn’t have asked for better teachers in Beth and Kristen! I left Glacier with her images of beauty in my camera and in my mind forever as well as a wonderful connection with a group of ladies that will be lifelong friends! Because of this workshop, I still dream about Glacier National Park and long to go back every day!

I had the pleasure of attending the Glacier National Park workshop with Kristen and Beth this past July. This park holds a very special place in my heart as I have been coming here almost every year with my family for the last 17 years. But I never really had the chance to capture the majesty of the park on family excursions. This was four days to focus on nothing but capturing the beauty of Glacier National Park with a group of women who were equally as excited about photography as me. It was a workshop jam packed with a variety of locations, weather conditions, lots of laughs and not much sleep. But sleep is low of my list of priorities when I am at a workshop. Kristen and Beth were fantastic leaders. They both spent a lot of time encouraging us and making sure that all of the participants felt comfortable. They worked individually with anyone who wanted help. Beth and Kristen encouraged us to capture the park from different perspectives. Most people think of just grand landscapes in a place like this. But we learned to see it through intimate scenes and abstract ways using camera movement. I have memories and images to last a lifetime from this workshop!

It was such a great experience! The locations we went to were well researched and it was so nice to not have to worry about where to go, what time, location of sun for time of year, parking etc. I took new skills away and would love to join another trip with either instructor 🙂
Bucket list adventure!
The photography workshop led by Kristen Ryan and Beth Mancuso in Glacier National Park is a one of a kind magical experience. Beth and Kristen are hands on, supportive instructors, and guides. The planned sunrise, daytime hikes, and sunset locations were perfect to capture the beautiful landscape. It was an bucket list adventure for me and spending it with a group of ladies with similiar interest made it even more special.
So glad I took the leap!
I am a true hobbyist when it comes to my photography and have never gone to any type of retreat like this before. I am so glad I took the leap for the Glacier retreat. Beth and Kristen are not only amazing instructors but also great people who take a personal interest in everyone. They each have a different style of photography and their own individual way of teaching but it works so well as they complement each other. They planned out all the locations to offer different settings as well as perfectly timing the schedule to maximize the day. It was my second time at Glacier and I saw so much more that I had never seen before. Whatever your ability level, the opportunities to learn from two great photographers and to meet other like-minded women provided through this environment are amazing.

I had the opportunity to attend a photography workshop held in Glacier National Park last summer led by Beth Mancuso and Kristen Ryan. Glacier is a park I’ve been planning to explore, and what better way than with a group of like-minded women who are as interested in photography as I am? Communication from Beth and Kristen was immediate as soon as I registered and it continued throughout the workshop. Every detail of the workshop was well planned and executed. Photography help, inspiration, and encouragement was always offered and given generously. This workshop was a fabulous, fun bonding experience with women from all over the US.
