WHAT – 9 Day, 8-night photography retreat (ladies only)
WHEN – June 16th – 24th, 2023
WHERE – Iceland!
COST
$5995 = double occupancy, shared room with 2 beds. (4 available)
$6749 = single occupancy, own room (6 available)
TOPICS COVERED – Manual mode, exposure, composition, light, self-portraits, long exposure, composites. Editing videos will be made available after the trip, along with image critiques.
GROUP SIZE – 10 students, 1 instructor, 1 assistant
EXPERIENCE – This course is for all levels. Both beginners and advanced photographers will walk away with new skills.
ENDURANCE – Students should expect moderate activity. There will be hikes involved ranging from 2-4 miles. (weather permitting).
CAMERA GEAR – Recommended gear requirements are a DSLR or mirrorless camera, camera bag, tripod, filters, wide-angle lens with a large aperture, and zoom lens. A full list with details and specific products will be emailed to you.
LODGING – Is included in the price of the retreat. We will be staying at four different places during the retreat. It is a combination of hotels, guesthouses, and cottages. *Please note that 2 of the places have shared bathrooms.
FOOD – Breakfasts are provided in three out of four lodging places. Beth will get some breakfast food for the stay that doesn’t include breakfast. We will also be stopping at grocery stores and restaurants throughout the trip for you to purchase any food you may need.
TRAVEL – The retreat will start on the morning of the 16th. You will fly into Keflavik Airport. From there you take the Flybus (shuttle) to the BSI terminal, you have to purchase a ticket for this and can do so beforehand. It is about a 40-50 minute ride. I can pick you up at the BSI Terminal if you are flying in on the morning of the 16th. If you choose to fly in on the 15th please book a room at Center Hotels Plaza and I will meet you there on the morning of the 16th. I will be staying there on the 15th as well. We will discuss this in more detail in the Facebook group. You will be responsible for paying for lodging on the 15th if you decide to come early.
ITINERARY – While on this adventure we will stay in 4 different areas in southern Iceland.
PLEASE NOTE that summertime in Iceland means Midnight Sun. Students can plan on staying up for most sunsets which is around 11:30 PM with the possibility for a few sunrise shoots as well (3 AM). We will sleep into the late morning and get a later start in the day (dependent on check-out times).
We will kick off the trip by traveling to the Snaefellsness Peninsula. We will stay there for 2 nights and then head to the town of Hvolsvöllur (near Hella), where will also spend 2 nights. From Hvolsvöllur, we will head to Kirkjubæjarklaustur and spend 2 nights there. On our way to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, we will stop in Vik for some photo ops. From Kirkjubæjarklaustur we will head to Laugarvatn (Golden Circle Area) and spend our last 2 nights there.
We will plan to be back at the airport by 2PM on the 24th.
You will be photographing multiple waterfalls, churches, horses, sheep, canyons, lupines, beaches, mountains, and more!
WEATHER – Please note that I may adjust the itinerary as necessary because of the weather and conditions. This will allow us to make the most of our workshop and travel safely.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED – Food, beverages, airfare, and trip insurance. Highly recommend trip insurance.

DEPOSIT: $1,500
Emails will be answered in the order they are received. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable unless we are able to fill your spot.
Deposits will be taken via Zelle or personal check with no additional fees.
Deposits can also be received through Venmo with a 2% transaction fee.
